On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the 10th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog. According to an official statement, the focus of this meeting will be on the states, aiming to transform India into a developed nation by 2047. The theme for the meeting is 'Developed India for Developed States @2047'. Additionally, several Chief Ministers, including MK Stalin from Tamil Nadu, Bhupendra Patel from Gujarat, and Mohan Chandra Majhi from Odisha, have begun arriving at the venue, Bharat Mandapam.
Significance of the Meeting
This meeting marks the first significant gathering of Prime Minister Modi with the Chief Ministers of all states and Union Territories following Operation Sindoor. Notably, Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will not be attending the meeting in New Delhi. A close source to the Chief Minister clarified that he is not boycotting the meeting but has a prior commitment in Mysuru. The Chief Minister has sent his address to the Governing Council in New Delhi.
Discussion Points for the Governing Council
However, it remains unclear who will present Siddaramaiah's address at the meeting. NITI Aayog stated that in line with its commitment to unite all states as 'Team India' for a developed India, Prime Minister Modi will chair the 10th Governing Council meeting on May 24, 2025. The agenda will include discussions on the vision for developed states as part of the broader goal of a developed India by 2047.

The statement emphasized that the concept of developed states for a developed India calls for states to prepare bold, long-term, and inclusive vision documents aligned with national priorities, grounded in local realities. These visions should include time-bound goals. The statement further indicated that states should leverage their unique geographical and demographic advantages while focusing on human development, economic growth, sustainability, technology, and governance reforms.
